A Brand New Start - Un Nuovo Inizio

I've been so busy these days that I couldn't find the time to update my blog. That's too bad, as the blog is a great way to communicate with customers and hifi enthusiasts. From now on, I'll do all my best to keep the blog updated on a daily basis. As usual, I'll try to post in both English and Italian.

I'll be glad should all my readers share the link to this blog with friends. I also suggest readers to register to have new posts notifications by e-mail.

I take the chance to announce the coming out of a lot of reviews on the new hiFace DAC. Our new little DAC is having a great success due to the great sound and value for money. In Italy, two reviews were published in May on Audio Review and Suono, and, more recently, a short review appeared two fridays ago on "Il Venerdi di Repubblica", a spinoff generalist weekly magazine from one of the most important italian newspaper.

E' da tanto che non trovo il tempo per scrivere sul mio blog. Un vero peccato, perché il blog è un ottimo tramite per comunicare con i clienti e gli amanti dell'hi-fi in genere. Da ora in poi, farò del mio meglio per tenere il blog aggiornato su base giornaliera. Come al solito, cercherò di postare sia in inglese che in italiano.

Sarò lieto se i miei lettori vorranno condividere il link di questo blog con i loro amici. Suggerisco anche ai lettori di registrarsi per ricevere via e-mail le notifiche sui nuovi post.

Colgo l'occasione per annunciare l'uscita di molte nuove recensioni sull'hiFace DAC. In nostro nuovo piccolo DAC sta avendo un enorme successo, grazie al suo suono a al grande rapporto qualità/prezzo. In Italia sono uscite due recensioni a Maggio, su Suono e su Audio Review, mentre il Venerdi di Repubblica del 7 Giugno ha pubblicato una breve recensione a cura di Jaime d'Alessandro.

M2Tech at Munich High-End 2013 - M2Tech a Monaco High-End 2013

M2Tech will be exhibiting at Munich High-End 2013, May 9th-12th. This year, too, the exhibition will be held at the MOC. M2Tech will share a room with Sonic Studio and Manger with a very essential digital system based upon Mac/Amarra, Vaughan and Manger active speakers. Come and listen to it in atrium 4.2, room F211.

Greece Likes M2Tech - Alla Grecia Piace M2Tech

It seems that Greece likes M2Tech products a lot. It may be the raving passion for M2Tech by our Greek distributor, it may be that M2Tech products meet Greek audiophiles needs... Either reasons, you can find two new Joplin reviews and one Vaughan review on our website. And they're all very positive reviews! Of course, they're in greek, so you will need a translator to get them into your language. But I think the contents are worth the pain: enjoy them!

Sarà forse per la grande passione con cui il nostro distributore greco promuove i prodotti M2Tech, sarà che i prodotti M2Tech incontrano i bisogni degli audiofili greci... hiFace/Young/Vaughan and Squeezbox Touch - hiFace/Young/Vaughan e Squeezbox Touch

I've received a feedback from our Danish distributor about some users who got to connect the hiFace to their Squeezbox Touch. The process is quite not straightforward, as the hiFace (and Young and Vaughan which share the same base technology) are not USB 2.0 Audio Class compliant, thus it requires to recompile the Linux OS including the hiFace/Young/Vaughan driver and reinstall it into the Squeezbox. Not an easy task for non-programmers. Nevertheless, it may make sense for users who want to fully exploit the sonic potential of their Squeexbox by bpassing its digital output.

Ho ricevuto un feedback dal nostro distributore danese riguardo ad alcuni utenti che sono riusciti a collegare la hiFace al loro Squeezebox Touch. La procedura non è banale, in quanto la hiFace (ed anche lo Young ed il Vaughan che condividono la stessa tecnologia di base) non sono USB 2.0 Audio Class compatibili, per cui è necessario ricompilare il Linux includendo il driver per hiFace/Young/Vaughan e poi reinstallarlo sullo Squeezebox. Un lavoro non facile per non-programmatori. Ciò nonostante, la cosa potrebbe avere senso per chi desideri sfruttare tutte le potenzialità sonore del proprio Squeezebox bypassando l'uscita S/PDIF.

New great Vaughan reviews from Germany and Romania - Nuove, stupende recensioni sul Vaughan dalla Germania e dalla Romania

The Vaughan goes on collecting very positive reviews all around the world. This time two new reviews come from Germany (Audio magazine, http://www.m2tech.biz/public/pdf/aud_04_13_M2Tech.pdf) and from Romania (Soundnews, http://soundnews.ro/2013/03/18/m2tech-vaughan-review/). We're really proud for the great success the Vaughan is earning all around the world. It's a great achievement for a young company as M2Tech, and an indication of the very high sound quality level of our products.

The new approach to the music market: will majors ever understand it? - Il nuovo approccio al mercato della musica: riusciranno le major a farlo proprio?

Yesterday I searched the 'net for the new Steve Hackett's album, Genesis Revisited II. I wanted to download the music if possible. So I ran into Steve Hackett's website which is a real on-line shop: records, downloads, apparel, gadgets, concert tickets...
This is, in my opinion, an example of how the music biz should work today: in a time in which music can be "stolen" very easily, artists must find other ways to live from their music: concerts, memorabilia, public image rights from TV and radio... No way to get money from the music itself. It's like going back more than one century: before the invention of radio and discs, artists were paid to play live to audiences. Mozart (his father, actually) become rich wandering through Europe to give concerts in front of kings and princes. Now the audience is much larger and so are the opportunities for artists.
This is a concept most majors seem not able to understand: they still pretend to get money from CD's, DVD, SACD's, Blu-Rays... The major which will turn itself into a service provider for artists, organizing concerts and dealing with TV's and radios for public appearance of its artists will stay on the market, the others are going to die. It's breaking news that HMV is quitting all her shops in UK: 'Nuff said...
BTW: I finally purchased and downloaded the studio master FLAC's: 12 Pounds for two hours and half of great music @ 88.2/24: hi-rez is out there.

Ieri navigavo in Internet alla ricerca dell'ultimo album di Steve Hackett, Genesis Revisited II. Volevo scaricare la musica se possibile. Sono dunque arrivato al sito web di Steve Hackett, un vero negozio on-line: dischi, download, abbigliamento, gadget, biglietti per i suoi concerti...
Questo è, secondo me, un esempio di come dovrebbe funzionare oggi il business della musica: in tempi in cui la musica può essere "rubata" molto facilmente, gli artisti devono trovare nuovi modi per vivere della loro arte: concerti, memorabilia, diritti pubblici in radio e in TV... Non c'è più modo per guadagnare dalla musica in sé. Sembra di tornare indietro di più di un secolo: quando la radio ed il fonografo non erano ancora stati inventai, i musicisti erano pagati per esibirsi dal vivo. Mozart (suo padre, in effetti) divenne ricco vagando per l'Europa esibendosi davanti a re e principi. Oggi il pubblic o è enormemente più vasto, così come le opportunità per gli artisti.
E' un concetto che la maggior parte delle grandi case discografiche sembrano non riuscire a comprendere: cercano ancora di guadagnare dalla vendita di CD, DVD, SACD, Blu-ray... La major che si trasformerà in un fornitore di servizi per gli artisti, organizzando i loro concerti e gestendo la loro immagine pubblica, rimarrà sul mercato, le altre sono destinate a soccombere. E' notizia recentissima che HMV stia chiudendo tutti i negozi in Gran Bretagna: servono altri indizi?
A proposito: alla fine ho comprato e scaricato i FLAC in versione studio master: dodici Sterline per due ore e mezza di ottima musica a 88.2/24: l'alta risoluzione è a portata di mano.

Joplin and Young as complete recording/playback station: a feedback from a user - Joplin e Young come stazione completa di registrazione/riproduzione: il resoconto di un utente

I'd like to share with you this e-mail from a user from USA who owns both Joplin and Young and uses them to rip and reproduce vinyl:
"Marco,

 After three months of The Young and The Joplin, I thought I would let you know how I operate your products.  Today I recorded a Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab recording of Santana's first album.  (I bought my first copy in the Winter of 1970.)  I recorded it at 384 kHz/24-bit in Samplitude.  I then moved it to my NAS server where I linked the individual tracks in a progrlam called Music Collector.  Music Collector is the database that contains a listing of much of my music. I have enclosed a screen shot of what Music Collector looks like when I selected the MSFL vinyl version of Santana 1.  The white triangles are where you can click to get either the whole album (top where I labled START) or individual tracks on the left to play in JRiver,  The next screen  shot is of JRiver Media Center.   I use WASAPI - Event Style.  Regular WASAPI does not work for me at all.  Kernal Streaming works but it has buffering issues which causes it to stop and then restart.  The techs at JRiver said to output at the highest bit rate that your DAC can handle so I set JRiver to 32-bit and I think it does make a big difference to play back any music to The Yound at 32-bits."

Vorrei condividere con voi un'interessante e-mail inviatami da un utente americano che possiede sia il Joplin che lo Young, che usa come stazione integrata di ripping e playback per il suo vinile. Il testo originale è qui sopra, il sunto in italiano è: "utilizzo il Joplin con Samplitude per ripare il vinile a 384kHz/24bit (evidentemente Samplitude non permette l'acquisizione a 32 bit), poi realizzo un collegamento del materiale acquisito con Music Collector (album e singole tracce). Per riprodurre il materiale rippato uso JRiver won WASAPI in Event Style perché la modalità standard non pare funzionare. Il Kernel Streaming funziona ma prodoca delle interruzioni nel playback. Seguendo il consiglio dei creatori di JRiver, invio i dati allo Young nel formato a 32 bit: la differenza in effetti è notevole."
